Kisame crawled over to the young man, covered in blood and dirt.

“kisame...” came a husky and soft voice.

Kisame nodded and came closer, looking at the dying young man in front of him.

Uchiha Itachi.

Kisame wanted anything to get out of this dream. this nightmare.

he and Itachi had gone on a mission. a dangerous mission, that went out of hand. now, Kisame had lost a limb and Itachi was at deaths’ door.

“kisame...” breathed Itachi again, coughing up a mouthful of blood.

“l-lie still, Itachi-san...” Kisame said softly, trying to comfort his partner and stroking the Uchiha’s cheek. he would’ve never done this before... but there probably won’t be a later.

Kisame looked with his simple black eyes at Itachi’s. it was one of the first times he had ever seen the Uchiha’s eyes any other colour then red.

they were grey-black, with death clouding their vision.

“... i’m going to miss you, kisame...”

Kisame bit his lip and watched as one of Itachi’s blood-soaked hands raised itself and caressed his cheek, smearing blood lightly across his gill-markings.

“you’re not going to die, Itachi-san.” said Kisame quietly, a small comforting smile on his face, trying to reassure himself, more then his team mate.

“don’t be ridiculous... Kisame...” Itachi breathed, blood trickling down from his mouth.

Kisame gripped the hand Itachi had caressed his cheek with.

“you’re not going to die!” he repeated.

Itachi just lay there, looking at Kisame with blurred and hardly opened ebony eyes.

“you’re not going to die!” Kisame repeated.

“kisame...” breathed Itachi, his voice sounding very far away.

“i can’t even feel your hand in mine...”

Kisame felt his eyes sting with that cursed hot and salty liquid.

“you’re not going to die! YOU’RE NOT!” shouted Kisame, more to himself than Itachi.

Itachi looked at Kisame, a small smile on his lips.

“i’ll miss you...”

Kisame’s eyes widened as Itachi’s eyes closed for the last time. the stinging salty liquid in Kisame’s eyes making his vision blurred.

“no...” breathed Kisame, dropping Itachi’s cold hand.

“... no!”

“NOO!!!” Kisame screamed and gripped his dead partner’s body, screaming at the top of his lungs, the cursed salty liquid falling form his eyes.

Kisame’s lungs burnt as he screamed, trying to drag Itachi’s soul back to him. but it was too far away, even for Kisame to reach. even with his two arms and one leg.

Kisame sat there, sobbing. screaming. hoping that somehow, Itachi could come back.

Kisame slowly sat up and plunged a kunai into his wrist.

please let him wake up from this horrible nightmare! please!

Kisame watched the blood from his wrist flow like a waterfall onto the ground, mixing in the mud.

Kisame didn’t wake up. this wasn’t a dream.

the shark-man’s tear-filled eyes closed and opened again. his partner was still there. Kisame now registered that this wasn’t a dream. this wasn’t a nightmare.

this was cold. hard. reality.

“... i’ll miss you too, Itachi-san...”

with that, Kisame pulled the kunai from his wrist and plunged it into his chest.

“lets hope we can meet together in another world...”

“yes... let’s hope...”
